Last weekend I tried a Shakeology 3-day cleanse for the first time. I wasn't sure what kind of results to expect. I've done detox diets before but never with much success. I always lose focus, lose motivation, lose interest, have a cheat bite of this or that and then it's all down hill from there.
I've used Shakeology before as a breakfast replacement. I tried it for 30 days and found I had way more energy (at the time I was in school full time, wake up at 7am, school till 2, then straight to work at the daycare until 11pm. So having more energy was fantastic!). But even better, I lost 6lbs the first month just by adding Shakeology to my day!
I've been stuck in those same 2lbs for months, you know how it goes... 1 up, 1 down, 2 up, 2 down, UGH! So I decided to revisit the idea of a 3-day cleanse. Shakeology for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, fruit in between and a heaping helping of salad and veggies for 3 days. First thing in the morning I filled my little purple Nalgene bottle with 4 servings of green tea to get me through the day and my pink 55oz jug with ice water and went to town.
The results? I lost 1lb the first night, not too shabby for a days work. The second day I noticed my skin was glowing, REALLY glowing!! And by my final weigh in I'd lost 5lbs over 3 days! Woo hoo! Of course it's not fat loss, but my stomach and waist felt slimmer, I had lovely glowing skin and I've broken through those obnoxious 2lbs! And now, a week post-cleanse, I've kept those 5lbs off too!!!! I've heard a few stories that some people had lost up to 10lbs, and maybe my weight loss would have been greater if this were my first venture into weight loss. But considering that I watch what I eat, don't consume a lot of soda or fast food, and limit my salt, and I've done a bowel cleanse before... maybe my body was already acclimated to thing kind of thing.
Either way, I was thrilled to have broken out of that 2lb zone and I'll definitely do another cleanse in a few month. For now I'll stay on my regular once a day meal replacement and wrap up the last 6 weeks of my P90X before I move on to the next thing. And I can't WAIT for Tropical Strawberry to come out on Feb. 14! Completely vegan, no soy, no dairy! Woo! Onward and upward!
